How to Style The ‘Warm Neutrals’ Trend

We’re well into 2024 now and the beloved neutral interior style shows no signs of slowing down!

Scandi interiors and Japandi styles are growing in popularity, with many homeowners and interior lovers continuing to gravitate towards earth tones, natural materials and minimalism.

A huge part of this interior design style includes a neutral colour palette - with a preference towards those with a warm and welcoming undertone.

So, let’s see how you can use this trend in your own interior…

Opt for warm and comforting colours

Our homes are an escape from the outside world, and should offer a sense of warmth, harmony and comfort. This trends is all about being able to add colour to your home whilst still maintaining that timeless neutral look and feel.

When we think about a neutral colour palette, you may be tempted to think this only involves shades of warm greys, beige or whites. However the neutrals trend in 2024 plays host to far more than just the basics - look to light pinks, soothing greens and greige for a modern take on the neutral decor trend.

Use natural woods

Another common misconception about using neutrals in your home, is that everything needs to be white or beige. You couldn’t be more wrong!

To ensure your neutral interior hits the brief, try to incorporate lighter woods into your home. Think Japandi interiors here - warm woods and exposed wood grains add depth and interest to an otherwise very tonal space.

To achieve the right look for this trend, steer clear of darker woods or stains such as mahogany and walnut - as this will leave you with a more traditional looking interior.

Incorporate texture

Other materials that can help you achieve the neutrals look in your home is through texture. This could be through your surface - for example, a textured stone or marble countertop!

If you’re not looking to replace flooring or worktops, though, you can achieve the same result in a more budget-friendly way. Try adding in an oversized rug in a jute finish to ground your living room - or adding in a boucle armchair as a focal point in your bedroom!

There are so many ways to add texture to your space. For this trend, stick to textures and colours that fit the neutral palette - look to lighter tones of beige, browns and off-white for the base of your colour palette.
