The Most Commonly Asked Interior Design Questions
If there’s one thing all interior designers have in common, it’s the questions.
And rightly so!
Interior design is highly personal, however there are a few guidelines, tips and tricks that will ensure you create a truly amazing space every time. So, let’s get into it…
Q: How long does the interior design process take?
A: Each project will vary depending on the scope of works, however at Nest we usually like to allow around 2 weeks for the design, plans and presentation to be pulled together. This includes gathering quotes from subcontractors for any labour, quotes for bespoke items and getting samples.
Once everything is approved and ordered, most residential projects can be installed within as little as 3-4 weeks. For larger commercial projects we would allow around 8-10 weeks to ensure everything is ready to install quickly and seamlessly.
Q: What if my design style is different to my interior designer?
A: While all interior designers have their own style, at Nest Interior Design we believe design is subjective, and we aim to help bring your vision to life, using our expertise and eye for design. Every client is different, which is why you might not see your design style on our projects, but we can still help you achieve it!
Our designers are skilled at combining your taste with their own keen eye for design and knowledge of the industry to provide you with the interior of your dreams. We can also offer tips and advice for updating your existing style within your budget.

Q: Is interior design child/dog friendly?
A: Absolutely! Your interior designer will always take into account your needs first and foremost when creating a design. They’ll look at the function of each space and work with suppliers who offer durable, pre-treated fabrics. These include anything from stain resistance, liquid repellence, odour resistance, UV and fade resistance and durability.
It goes without saying that opting for furniture with these elements included can often be a little more costly, however your designer can talk you through these benefits. It also means they are usually a lot longer lasting, meaning you won’t have to replace them after a couple of years.
Q: Do I need to have a big budget?
A: Absolutely not! As interior designers, we can work with almost any budget - no matter how small. Of course, the budget will help guide how close we can get to your desired look. However an interior designer can help you decide where to prioritise your budget in order to get the most out of it.
